VISION
The aim of the Family Ministry at Swan Lake Evangelical Free Church flows from the church’s mission of making disciples by sharing life transformed by Christ’s love. There are three main texts that undergird all that we do: the Great Exchange (2 Corinthians 5:21), the Great Commandment (Matthew 22:37-40), and the Great Commission (Matthew 28:18-20).
We believe family ministry exists to engage, equip, and encourage parents in the daily task of discipling their children toward a lifetime of following Jesus. We never want to replace parents.
Current/Upcoming Programs
//Foundation Guys Bible Study // Guys! Looking for a place to grow in the Word and ask hard questions about your faith? We have something for you! There’s a new calendar out for Foundation SLSM Guys Bible Study! Currently, we’re going through the book, “You are a Theologian” by J.T. English and Jen Wilkin, this book emphasizes the need for every believer to understand Theology and covers some important theological topics. Students only need to show up with a Bible, we have the books on hand!
We’ve added a new feature to our bible studies, every couple of months we will do a fun event, and if students have attended a pre-determined number of bible studies they will get 50% off their regular cost of attendance! Our first even will be axe throwing at Wings Axe Company in Marshall on Saturday, December 7th!
Rides are often available from Marshall and Cottonwood, just contact our Youth Pastor at Colton@swanlakechurch.org with any questions you have, or if you need a ride!
//Rooted Women’s Bible Study// Ladies, Rooted Women’s Bible Study is back! Gretchen Andrea and Genna Loe will be leading again and have calendared out the meetings through the end of 2024!

Please be sure to follow us on Instagram and sign up for Remind to be alerted anytime there are changes to our regular scheduled events, reminders of activities and events, and to be kept in the loop on what is happening in our Student Ministry! This will be our main point of contact with you!
Current Series — Fall/Winter 2024
Epistle to the Romans: For our current series at Swan Lake Student Ministry, we will be exploring the book of Romans with our students! Our intention is to walk students through Paul’s explanation of the Gospel, God’s righteous judgment, His just rule, His calling for us to live holy lives, and His deep love for His Church.
General Fall/winter 2024 Information
It is September and the yearly youth schedule is coming to a close! The Fall/Winter Schedule begins with our SLSM Fall Launch on September 11th, all announcements and upcoming events will be listed here as well as on our Instagram page, so be sure to check back regularly!
Youth Group will be scheduled for every Wednesday from 7:30-9:30 PM this school year unless otherwise announced from our Instagram page or on our events page here, you can find that link here—https://www.instagram.com/swanlakestudentministry/ or under the tag @swanlakestudentministry on the Instagram app!
Our current series will be exploring the Epistle to the Romans and the practical applications that it has for both students and every Christian as they strive to pursue Jesus with their lives!

Upcoming Events - (Fall/Winter)
//Feed My Starving Children// Saturday, July 27! - Students and families are invited to join us for a day trip to Chanhassen, MN in order to pack food at Feed My Starving Children! Afterwards, we’ll head out to eat at Midtown Global Market in Minneapolis for some ethnic food!
There are only 15 packing slots available, so if you plan to attend, please sign up at the Church or let us know so we can mark you down!
//SLSM Valley Fair Trip 2024// Thursday, August 1 - Students, you are invited to our Valley Fair Trip this Summer! Mark your calendars for August 1st, and plan to join us for a day of rollercoasters, waterslides, and fun! The price will be $50 per attendee (which includes a bag lunch and transportation)! — Parents are welcome and encouraged to join in on this event and attend with their students (and younger kids) if so desired!
//Fields of Faith 2024// Wednesday, October 9th, 7:00 P.M. - All students are invited to join us for Fields of Faith in Marshall on October 9th, 2024! This is an evening full of student testimonies, a great FCA Speaker, and lots of fun for students! We will meet at Swan Lake Church at 6:30 for any students who may need a ride to Marshall. There will be no youth group this evening, as Fields of Faith functions in place of the regular student ministry function for this particular week.
//Fall Fling 2024// Friday to Sunday, November 1-3 - This Fall, November 1-3, Fall Fling at Camp Shamineau is back! Swan Lake Student Ministry heads back up north (as reigning Volleyball tournament champions) for another weekend of faith, fun, and fellowship! Fall Fling is a weekend full of God’s Word, Worship, fun activities, and time with other believers and friends built to give your students an interactive and exciting weekend away growing in their faith! There are also various tournaments (volleyball, dodgeball, and flag football) for students to partake in over the weekend!
The cost of camp is $115, plus money for two meals on the drive there and back, and any spending money students might want to bring for the camp shop/cafe. A $50 deposit is due Wednesday, October 9. We hope to see you there students!
//Chicago Mission Trip 2025// Students! You’re invited to join us next Summer (2025) to a mission trip to Chicago through Apex Missions*! At this site students will receive a week of education on how to share about Jesus with people of different faiths, as well as have opportunities for some local outreach in Chicago!
*(Apex is the EFCA’s Student Mission organization).
